Responsibilities

The Charge Capture and Reconciliation Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of unit and area specific revenue capture and auditing of clinical services and procedures within revenue producing departments. The Charge Capture and Reconciliation Manager will serve as a communication link between clinical and non-clinical employees as well as external contacts. The individual will serve in an educational and advisory capacity to the physician practice coding staff, clinical staff and physicians as it relates to documentation, coding, and billing regulatory compliance to reflect services performed and to enhance revenue cycle operations. This individual will establish and maintain an efficient and timely charge capture and reconciliation process while ensuring the accuracy and quality of coded and abstracted information. Management skills are required in the supervision of subordinate staff.


Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in health information management, management, business administration, health care, public health, finance, and/or other Allied Health preferred.

Required Minimum Certification:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) a nd Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)/or Certified Coding Professional (CCP) Required.

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years experience in healthcare required; including; ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding, physician practice management, or reimbursement analysis Three (3) years of management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Required Minimum Skills:
Knowledge of the accepted principles, practices and tools relating to general healthcare billing, cost accounting and reimbursement.
Knowledge of the structure and operations of the assigned work unit sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge of Wellstar policies, standards and methodologies pertaining to charge capture and reconciliation, reporting, documentation and general compliance.
Knowledge of the standards and regulatory requirements applicable to matters within designated scope of authority, including medical/legal issues.
Knowledge of the content and application of published health information management coding conventions, eg, as referenced in 'Coding Clinics' and/or other nationally recognized coding guidelines.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, and health care nomenclature and systems.
Knowledge of contemporary office principles, practices and equipment.
Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.
Ability to recognize, research and correct charging/documentation discrepancies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
