Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Special Test Equipment (STE) Design Engineer 3/4 to join our talented team in Northridge, CA with experience working with both test hardware and software.The candidate should be able to understand and use schematics, other hardware design documentation, test instrumentation, and write software to debug, test and operate hardware. The candidate should be able to understand and use schematics, other hardware design documentation, test instrumentation, and write software to debug, test and operate hardware. A successful candidate will develop system conceptualization and design, and testing and documentation. Test software development role also includes automated test code, data analysis, software and hardware configuration management, as well as close interaction with software and hardware development teams. Successful candidates must have experience in creating engineering documentation using AutoCAD or CREO.Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.This position may be filled as a Principal (T03) or Sr. Principal (T04) level. Basic qualifications for each level are specified below.Basic Qualifications for a Special Test Equipment Engineer 3 (Principal) are:
High school diploma AND a minimum of nine (9) years of related experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and three (3) years of related experience.
Experience in developing manual and automated test equipment for production use.
Experience with electronic hardware development and debugging.
Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and/or CREO.
Must be able to demonstrate effective communication with all level of employees and customers.
Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; US citizenship is required.
Must be willing and able to travel (up to 15%) or as necessary.Basic Qualifications for a Special Test Equipment Engineer 4 (Sr. Principal) are:
High school diploma AND a minimum of thirteen (13) years of related experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and seven (7) years of related experience.
Experience in developing manual and automated test equipment for production use.
Experience with electronic hardware development and debugging.
Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and/or CREO.
Must be able to demonstrate effective communication with all level of employees and customers.
Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; US citizenship is required.
Must be willing and able to travel (up to 15%) or as necessary.Preferred Qualifications:
Test equipment design and qualification experience.
Engineering and digital and analog troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge of digital communications.
Experience with software configuration management and CMMI.
Experience in creation and release of engineering documentation.
Experience working with Military Standards as related to weapon development.
Current/active Secret clearance.

Salary Range: 91960 - 137940
Salary Range 2: 114048 - 171072

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
