About the Role:
Cobalt's fleet of robots actively operates in complex human environments, such as offices, warehouses, and factories, across 3 different continents. Their robots autonomously press elevator buttons to patrol on multiple floors, open handicapped doors, recharge themselves, and detect security and facilities risks using computer vision. They have many interesting problems to solve as the technology scales!

Cobalt is seeking an exceptionally strong Robotics Engineer with a total systems perspective to expand the functionality and robustness of their autonomous robots. You will have end-to-end responsibility to develop solutions for real-world robotic applications. Your work will have a direct impact on what Cobalt delivers to Fortune 100 and SMB clients around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop safe behaviors that handle real world problems and interruptions Implement underlying robotics algorithms, such as planners, motion control, and perception, to improve our robustness and autonomy Productize and robustly deploy these algorithms onto our robots and cloud infrastructure Ensure code implementation is carefully thought through, keeping in mind readability, compute, scalability, maintainability, testing and other best practice considerations Proactively diagnose and resolve inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the engineering process Participate in design reviews and code reviews

Role Requirements:

BA/BS in CS, Robotics, Software Engineering, or a related field 2+ years of industry robotics experience Experience with Python, C++, and ROS Experience with mobile robots Experience deploying code into the physical world (not just working in simulation or research lab) Experience finding 80/20 solutions to quickly solve problems in a fast paced environment
