Maintains a good technical knowledge of ISP/Telecommunications product capabilities and the technical framework in which they operate
Relevant proven experience of ISP/Telecommunications networks, Voice and Core Data technologies, products and services
Good knowledge of LANs, WANs, VPLS, QoS enabled networks and traffic management systems, TDM, xWDM and fibre optical network techniques
Understanding of IP Networks and protocols, including the setting up of MPLS paths, addressing schemes, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, RIP and of signalling protocols such as RSVP and LDP
Leads, develops and creates high level design documentation for core IP & Transmission networks to enable an impact assessment response or a feasibility response for complex customer requirements to be completed within the customer required operational level agreement.
Produces design documentation to enable successful implementation of complex IP network, including end to end design schematics showing logical and physical network infrastructure and detailed designs.
Knowledge and understanding of Ethernet, SDH, Frame Relay, Packet over SDH, xWDM, wireless & cloud technologies, Access technologies (DSL, cable, and lease lines). Require good knowledge of IPv6, F5, Cisco Nexus and the Cisco Firepower Firewall.
Knowledge of Transmission testing techniques and fibre optic characteristics (eg OTDR, ILM, BERT, PMD and CD)
Experience of working with systems (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, etc.) from key vendors such as Cisco, Juniper and Nokia. Ciena, Infinera
Ability to conceptualise and design complex network infrastructure to provide optical fibre and transmission capacity and customer solutions.
Good working knowledge of MS Office and Visio drawing packages
