Cyber Defense Analyst - Security Analyst II
The Cyber Defense Analyst II is a junior individual contributor role serving on a team of dedicated analysts in the Security Operations Center (SOC), responsible for identifying and handling cyber security incidents, varying in complexity
The ideal person in this role brings experience in identifying and handling network and endpoint security incidents.
This role must be able to solve moderately complex problems independently and know when to escalate issues to management. The individual will work with multiple technology platforms and interface with other groups within IT Security Operations, offshore partners, and other technology and business functions.
Triage and respond to alerts to reduce the likelihood of security impact to corporate assetsRespond to escalations from our managed security services provider Interfaces with user community and assists with IT Security needsMaintain and adhere to defined runbooks for daily tasks, suggesting process and documentation improvementsRecommend preventative technology measures to reduce security risksAssist with incident response procedures, participating in playbook development and tabletop scenario exercises Suggest new monitoring and alerting use cases to expand visibility and coverage of the attack surfaceAssist with security and enterprise wide projects Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attacks
Excellent aptitude for problem solving and IT Security Strong written and verbal communication skillsBasic knowledge of tools and products used in day to day performance (such as SIEM, anti-virus, firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, email security, ticketing systems) Basic understanding of network concepts and protocols (such as DNS, LDAP, SMTP, FTP, etc.) Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology industry trends and emerging technologies and an ability to relate them to the company and its objectives At least 2 years of dedicated hands on experience in IT Security environment or equivalent Familiar with IT Regulations, PCI/Sarbanes-Oxley/Mass Privacy lawsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experienceRelevant industry certification a preferred (GCIA, GCIH, GREM, GCFA).
