Must Have Travel Applications

With more and more people using their smartphones to book hotels it is important to know what are the best applications to download to help you book your holiday and what apps you will be able to use abroad. Some applications you will need to help book your hotel and others you will need once you are over there to make your holiday go that little bit smoother. Here are my 4 must have travel applications when abroad.

Booking.com

Available On Both App Store & Google Play Store

This is one of the best applications you can download not only to book your accommodation but to also help you out when checking in. The booking.com application allows you as the user to complete a very detailed search of exactly what you are looking for. You can refine the search just lie the website down to area, hotel rating, swimming pool, distance to main city and the list goes on.

When you have entered what you would like to search like “Hotel Near Grafton Street” you will then see results that you can sort by price location or rating. This is a great help because you can look at both the cheapest and most expensive hotels with ease.

Before you book you can simply read the reviews from other booking.com users and this is always a good indication of what the hotel is like. Even if there are some bad reviews don’t let it put you off because some people just have bad experiences and blame it on the hotel.

Mapping Application - Google Maps or Waze

This can be from a variety of different apps but just make sure it is one you are familiar with. The main function of this app is when you land and are renting a car or walking to your hotel, if you have your route programed in then it will be quite easy to navigate your way to the hotel.

This app is also very useful when you are walking around a very big city. I always use these applications because they are accurate and can really save you time when trying to navigate by the bad map that the hotel give you. These apps can also inspire you to go and see different sights that you might have forgotten about.

Translation

This application wont be used as much as the rest but it can help immensely if the country you visit does not speak your native language. Even if it is just to ask for directions or about good restaurants it can help to have a translation app as it takes away the language barrier. I know when I have travelled the translation app on my phone has really saved me.

Mobile Banking

Available On Both App Store & Google Play Store

This is just a small but useful app as you cannot check your bank balance in ATM’s in some countries so it is easier to keep an eye on your funds through the mobile banking app.

Weather App

Available On Both App Store & Google Play Store

If you are planning t explore the country you are visiting and need good weather to do so it is important you check the weather through your application to give you a good idea if there will be rain.
