Sony unveiled its new Xperia Z during the CES tech show in Las Vegas. There is also Sony Xperia XL which is much similar to the Xperia Z. The new Sony Xperia Z is a water resistant smartphone with a big screen of 5-inch. It’s set to give tough competition to high-end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and iPhone 5. Now let’s have a closer look into this device. Also check out iphone 5s specs.
Build and Size
Though the Xperia Z has the 5-inch screen, it is lighter than it appears. With just the thickness of 7.9mm, it is much thinner than the Nokia Lumia phones. The rear cover is designed with tempered glass the front part includes symmetrical, slick aesthetics. The aluminum power button is located on the right hand side. It is definitely the best design for a Sony smartphone yet, and will be available in black and white color.
Screen
The big 5-inch screen is larger than the screen of Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X. The display quality is superb with a pixel density of 443 and HD 1080p resolution. The touchscreen is very responsive even if your hands or the screen is wet. Colors are punchy and bright and the details appear pin-sharp. When it comes to movies and zooming in web browser the pixel density will really help.
Features
Aside from its slick design and big screen, the Sony Xperia Z is water resistant too. It can resist water up to 1 m for half an hour. The smartphone also features Mobile Bravia Engine 2, which lets you have real time contrast optimization, more saturated colors, and crisper detail. The EXMOR RS sensor with HDR is also included in this phone.
The front-facing 2MP camera can capture 720p video, and the rear camera of 13MP can capture 1080p video. Other features include a burst mode, Sweep Panorama, and other various effects. Like other products of Sony, Xperia Z also supports NFC on-touch operation and 4G networks.
Battery
The Xperia Z comes with a battery of 2370mAh. Sony has claimed to extend battery life by 4 times with its new feature known as Battery Stamina Mode. And also another feature called Low Battery Mode helps to save the battery power to some extent.
Performance
The latest version of Android Jelly Bean is included in the Xperia Z. Sony has also added some of its own teaks to the Android UI, so you can get shortcuts to the services of Sony in the homescreen including Sony Select, Movies, Album and Walkman.
The Sony Xperia Z is powered by a quadcore Qualcommn Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. We found the phone very fast when switching between browsing the web and apps. The phone comes with 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
Conclusion
The Xperia Z is certainly the most impressive smartphone manufactured by Sony. The combination of impressive camera chops, Battery Stamina mode, water resistance and good looks makes it one of the best smartphone of 2013.
