10 SEO Questions with Straight Answers - Image 1

When you start learning things about SEO, its principles look pretty simple. The better your SEO is, the higher you get in rankings. What can be easier? But when you go deeper with practicing it there are more and more questions start arising. Here is a list of 10 SEO questions you probably did or going to encounter while working out your SEO skills.

1. Is it reasonable to try ranking with a broad keyword?

Our straight answer is no. Just focus on the niche keywords. Google prefers ranking big brands when it comes to broad keywords.

2. How can I build backlinks and do I need them at all?

Well, there are many ways, but there’s one main rule: check out the websites you’re placing links at very carefully! Bad links can ruin months of your hard work. Most popular ways for link building is guest posting, sponsored content, social media, using directories (be careful there too) and outstanding content.

3. Does website design matter for search engines?

It does not matter for search engines. But it does matter to users. Users like nice design and spend more time on a website if they like its design. And that’s what search engines count.

4. rel=nofollow: to be or not to be?

To be. Experiments show that Google still takes them in account. Don’t forget that all Twitter links are nofollow but they are still have their weight for search engine rankings.

5. How to make keywords research

There are two ways to do it: you can use special software or buy this service (if your budget allows you), it is essential when you have to deal with thousands of keywords. If your volumes are limited to a hundred of keywords it’s reasonable to select keywords manually using Google Adwords planner.

6. How should I place keywords?

It looks pretty easy: put one in a title, put one in description, another one in content first 100 words… But only one! If you put too many keywords, that might lead to spamming and Google ban. In the end it’s not keywords users are searching.

7. Which CMS is better?

Depends on the type of your future website. WordPress is perfect for general websites and ecommerce, phpBB is good for forums and chats, Maxsite CMS is optimal for blogs. You can use special services that will help you choose CMS according to your needs.

8. Should I use PPC?

If you’re good on budget, that will definitely be useful. PPC is perfect for one-time actions like sale or events promotions. Campaigns like that can attract visitors that will stay with you even after the promotion is over.

9. Do Bing and Yahoo bring any traffic?

Yes, they still exist. And enjoy millions of users every day. Don’t ignore them just because they are not Google. It won’t take much effort to start ranking there, but you’ll be surprised how many visitors they can bring you.

10. Why did traffic sharply decrease?

If it happened a couple days ago first of all look at the calendar: weekends and holidays is the time when people use internet much less. If your traffic decreases steadily for a considerable period of time, then the reason might be search engine ban.
