Technology-wise, there are constantly new updates in the market. Like, if we talk about the recent instance that it has came out that Google has been in the process of developing a third-party keyboard for iOS that’s going to put the company’s search engine in a most-demanding part of the interface. The report has freshly come from The Verge. The keyboard integrated with a range of search options has been in developing stage since quite some time now and there is still no clarity over when Google plans the release.

The Google keyboard integrated with varying features differentiates it from the stock iOS keyboard. Now just as Android, Google keyboard for iOS uses gesture-based typing, thus it is easy to slide your finger from one letter to the next allowing Google make a guess over the anticipated word. By tapping the Google logo, it’s easier to access traditional web search as well as it seems to be having distinct buttons for pictures and GIF searches, both said to be powered by Google image search. Speaking of the visual aspect, they keyboard is different from the standard Android keyboard incorporating voice search instead of text or image-based searching.

The employees were well-in-know of the keyboard since months now and the big news is that it is efficient of increasing the number of Google searches on iOS. The company enjoys a monopoly on the worldwide market, still it is said that mobile search is way less lucrative for Google in comparison of the desktop. Journalist Charles Arthur, on the basis of publicly available numbers, asserted in October that half of smartphone users carry zero searches per day. Calculation wise, as per Arthur, desktop users execute an average of 1.23 searches per day.

Now the math may not be accurate still the trend is inarguable. Most of the desktop searches take place concerning keywords such as Facebook or Gmail. These searches are insignificant on mobile phones as the users have the option to just tap on the relevant mobile app in order to launch it. So the trouble for Google, as well as for Alphabet, its parent company, is that search is the place where Google presents the most expensive ads to the users. In case there is any decline in search it would mean an existential threat to the company.

Going by these talks, iOS keyboard seems to be coming soon, however we don’t know yet if iOS users yet desire Google’s approach to typing. Third-party keyboards have not attained much success on iPhone and iPads. Hence it’s advised that when users install more than one, they must frequently cycle through them. There have been several of third-party keyboards which have faced issues such as sluggishness and certain other issues.

Meanwhile, Google brand is certainly among the best and the users performing various searches on a daily basis or just wish a solid gesture-based system for text entry are going to be allured by the Google keyboard. Now it remains to be seen when the company is planning the big release.
