Dominance of iPhone Application Development in Mobile World

Published on 29 March 16
The mobile app world, especially in the US and India are ruled by iOS application development. Android and iPhone development have a neck to neck competition over dominance in the development field. Without a thought, iPhone application development already dominates most of the mobile development world. Proof is the popularity of iOS devices within the US, China and India. And obviously the rising number of developers for iPhone development. But what makes it superior to other mobile platforms? Keep reading…:

1) App Quality: Talking about quantity, developing apps with Android outnumber the ones being developed on iOS. But when talking of quality, Android is not even closer. IPhone app development has unmatched quality when compared to other mobile app development platforms. It has a perfect finish to an app. mentioning about children’s apps, games or anything else, quality comes from iOS development.

2) Controlled entry of apps: Not every iOS device can taste a brand new application during the development phase. Devices have to be registered and developers require a UDID after which developers generate an installation link. Once that particular device runs the link, the app can be downloaded. Unlike Android, iOS does not allow you to carry the app setup file wherever you go.

3) User Experience: This one is what matters the most. IPhone application development is not just about development but also the user experience. As compared to others, this platform has a complimented user experience. Nearly 60% of the iPhones around the world are running on the latest OS, which is much better than Android, which runs the latest version on 10% devices only. So app development on the iOS gets even better and easier since most of the users are already on the latest version.

4) Enhanced HTML Support: HTML’s latest version 5 is better since it can replace Flash to fulfill multimedia needs of users. This can boost the usage of i Phones, especially the latest ones that support Live Photos.

5) Device size: Device sizes are limited in this case. And that’s even better! Developers don’t really have to waste time adjusting their apps accordingly. For those who don’t know, Android has more than a thousand screen sizes and specifications. Developers have a tough time making their apps 100% compatible.

6) High Salaries: If you’re an iPhone developer, this one’s for you. Believe it or not, a new iPhone app developer has the potential and can earn more than an entry level Android developer. Because of its superiority, iPhone app development pools in more money for its developers.

7) No compatibility issues: You must have noticed that all iPhones come without an external SD card and the storage comes in 3 sizes only. There’s no more math to it. Developers don’t find it difficult to adjust and test their apps accordingly. Talking about Android, thousands of device sizes and storage capacity becomes nerve wrecking for its developers. Since it is open source, companies release stock ROM to inject into devices manufactured by them. Currently, more than thousand different Android devices you can spot!

8) No company can inject the OS into their devices: iOS belongs to Apple only. The OS cannot be used by any mobile manufacturing company to inject it into their phones. But in Android, it’s the opposite. It is open source so companies can modify and own it.

In all cases, iPhone application development is the clear winner of who’s dominant. The dominance is clearly ruling with flying colors.

Yes, there are some advantages for iOS, being developed and controlled by only Apple. Hence iOS developers doesn't face the problem of cross device compatibility issues. But on the other hand Android, being an open source OS, gives more flexibility to developers and OEMs who configure various settings depending on the usage and functionality. That is the reason Android is widely adopted by many Mobile OEMs whereas the Apple lags behind in terms of growth and penetration. A recent improvement in this space is the Land Transport Authority (LTA) which has enabled NFC payments for Metro Rail in Singapore for only Android powered mobiles and commented that iPhone are excluded now because they are currently not compatible with NFC contactless e-purse. From a developer stand point, iOS app develpment may look great but in terms of facilitating latest improvements in technology Android is way ahead of Apple.
