Free Up Storage to Install iOS 10.3 on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

While upgrading to iOS 10.3, one of the challenges we encounter is running out of space on our iPhone or iPad. Actually, no more than 2.5GB is required for iOS10.3 update, which is a vast improvement over the storage of at least 5.8GB that was required for iOS 8 update. To Get Started: Identify Storage Usage
What’s consuming all you storage? Before we get started it’s important to find out the spare capacity you have, and which apps are using the most. Open your Settings app and tap General, then select Usage. Your iPhone will show you the used and available storage space. Tap Manage Storage, you’ll see a complete list of your apps and how much storage space each is using.
After knowing what is taking up the most space, now you can move on to the tips below to clear space on iPhone for more storage in just a few minutes.
1.Delete Useless Apps & Completed Games
Many apps are only 10MB to 50MB in size, while games can be 500MB to 1GB in size. You can go through every app and game on your iPhone and if you don’t use it, get rid of it. Simple tap and hold its icon until it juggles and then tap the X in the corner. Or in the Manage Storage section, tap an app to view details and then tap Delete App to uninstall the app.
2. Delete Messages & Attachments on iPhone
For users who get used to contacting with others via sending messages, they must have tons of messages saved on iPhone, these conversations, especially its attached pictures, audios, takes large space. Now it's time to transfer text messages from iPhone to computer for backup, then remove them completely to get more storage on iPhone.
- Go to Settings > Messages > Message History > Keep Messages.
- There are 3 options: 30 Days, 1 Year, and Forever, select one and click on Delete.
3. Delete Siri Voices
As a voice-controlled assistant, Siri allows users to perform any operations via voice commands. If you seldom or never use Siri on iPhone, you can easily delete all extra remembered on Siri and free up storage of 0.7GB.
- Go to Settings > General > Siri to disable Siri
- Navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Assets to deleted two files: "com.apple.MobileAsset.VoiceServices.CustomVoice" "com.apple.MobileAsset.VoiceServicesVocalizerVoice".
Transfer Photos & Videos from iPhone to Computer
Videos and photos usually take up a lot of space on our iPhone, so it’s always good to transfer photos & videos from iPhone to computer and use the computer as a primary backup, then delete from your device.
Steps to Backup Photos & Videos from iPhone to Computer:
- Run iTunes and connect your iPhone to computer. Then tap File > Devices > Back up to create a backup of your iPhone.
- Download, install and run Jihosoft iPhone Backup Extractor. Then choose the iPhone backup and click Next to go on.
- Select Camera Roll and Photo Stream from the listed file types and click Next to scan photos and videos in the backup.
- After scanning, preview and check the photos and videos. Then click Recover to save them on your computer.
- Delete photos and videos on your iPhone once you’ve saved them on your computer.
