Your USB drive/pen drive may get corrupted when prompting the following error messages:
1. E:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Most of the above phenomena are damage to the hard disk partition table, and the partition information of the hard disk cannot be read correctly by the system.
2. E:\ is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.
3. E:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume us not corrupted.
4. You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?
Note: When the USB flash disk fails, we first need to back up or restore the data as far as possible with data recovery software, and then repair the corrupted USB drive.
Here are some specific methods for USB drive repair:
The most immediate cause of the USB drive failure is the file system corruption. And the common way to solve this is to use chkdsk.
Step 1. Right click Removable disk that represents the corrupted USB drive and select Properties.
Step 2. Switch to Tools tab and select Check now. Check out two items in the pop-up window.
Step 3. Click the "start" button to check and fix the disk error.
After the repair is completed, you can try to open the USB drive.
When the above method fails to open the USB drive, it is recommended to format it. Right-click "Removable disk" and select "Format" in the pop-up menu. In the open "Formatting" window, uncheck "Quick formatting" and click the "Start" button.
There are three types of file system you can choose:
FAT - The default file system is FAT, but it only fits for SD card not more than 32GB. Works on Windows and Mac.
NTFS - Only works on Windows.
exFAT - Works on Windows and Mac. Besides, it has no storage restrictions.
5. Windows was unable to complete the format.
If Windows fails to format the corrupted USB drive, you can try to complete the format in Disk Management to fix pen drive/USB drive.
Step 1. Right click Computer and select Management.
Step 2. Click Disk Management and find removable disk E. Right click it and choose Format.
Alternatively, you can format the USB drive using Diskpart
Step 1. Open command prompt by clicking Win+R and type cmd.
Step 2. In turn, type list disk> select disk +number> clean> create partition primary> active> format fs=fat32/ntfs/exfat> exit. (Press Enter to go to the next instruction)
