It’s amazing what you can do with technology these days. From the latest smartphones and smartwatches to powerful computers that can now fit in the smallest of cases, the technology available to us these days is quite simply overwhelming. So why has it take the internet so long to catch up? I’m not talking about the internet speed or efficiency when loading web pages. I’m talking about the design and ability to change the size of the layout depending on what type of technology it’s being viewed on. I spoke with flowink, a company that specialises in web design in herts, about what methods can be implemented in websites to allow the ability to change the layout and here is what they've told us
Flexibility is important

With a large majority of the population browsing websites on a variety of different platforms, it’s very important that a website has the ability to change and adapt to the demands of the browser and technology. For instance, viewing a website on a smartphone is far different to viewing it on a computer because the screen size is limited. Having a website that looks the same and with the same theme, but adapts to the screen size to make it easy to read and navigate round, is vital for a positive user experience.
How is this created?

There’s a technique that’s been going around the internet design world and it’s called responsive website design. This technique allows websites to change and adapt to the screen size and browser capability. It’s not that difficult to implement for professional website builders, however because it’s a relatively new concept, not that many website have it at the moment. Old website will require updating and sometimes an entirely new design so quite often companies don’t want to spend the extra money to update. This is a big mistake because as more and more people buy smartphones and tablets, websites will be viewed on an increasing variety of platforms

Overall, flat website design is a technique that will undoubtedly be growing in popularity the more smartphones and tablets that get sold. Websites need to implement this technique as soon as possible or risk getting left behind in a world where navigation and usability takes precedence over style.
