RESPONSIBILITIES: Kforces client, a growing Technology Company in the Phoenix, Arizona (AZ) area is looking for an Embedded System Design Engineer. Duties Include: Develop and determine hardware, software and system requirements for mixed-signal microelectronic products by examining design criteria, system feasibility and capabilities Select key components, interfaces, and protocols; Perform board design using schematic capture tools such as Altium, OrCAD or Mentor Graphics PADS Determine optimal system trade-offs to balance efficiency, cost and flexibility Develop, maintain, and improve algorithms and firmware for embedded systems Develop and execute test plans for product validation and characterization Work with Marketing, Applications Engineers and Analog Design Engineers to design mixed-signal product Work with Test Engineering on Design for Testability Work with outside consultants, suppliers and contract manufacturers to identify components and tools Occasional travel is required Performs other related duties as requested or requiredREQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree 5 - 8 years of Electrical Design and Embedded System Design experience Minimum three 3 - 5 years of microcontroller design experience Experience with various high-speed interfaces such as USB, SATA, HDMI, Ethernet, and PCIe Strong digital circuit design and MCU design is required Analog design is a plus, but not required Experience with PCB design is desired Basic knowledge of version control systems, such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial would be ideal Working knowledge of C/C++ and object-oriented programming is a plus but not required Familiarity with low-speed interfaces including UART, SPI, and I2C is preferred Knowledge of mixed-signal circuits and systems, including operational amplifiers, ADCs, and DACs is a plus Demonstrated ability reading hardware schematics and using common debugging tools including scopes, logic analyzers, emulators, and signal generators Track record of participating in the successful deployment of commercial products over the full product development life cycle Familiarity with various microprocessor architectures, especially ARM and use of SOCs with assorted peripherals Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, collaborative skills, cross-functional interface skills, analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities are essential; Highly technical with a quick grasp of how things work Kforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
