Department and Program Description

The Ops Desktop Product Team forms part of the CIB Ops Transformation Group and is a dedicated group of Product Managers that are focused on delivering better ways of working for our clients and JPM Operations across the CIB. The Product Team manage a broad product portfolio and are focused on outcomes first and foremost, data driven with an emphasis on learning through experimentation, and that collaborate with cross functional teams including Technology, User Experience Researchers Designers, Data Science, Product Marketing and Operations.

The Ops Desktop Product Team aim to achieve an improved user experience for Operations through the design, development delivery of a suite of capabilities that leverage new technologies to address operational needs when managing processing exceptions and enquiries, thereby reducing operating costs, enhancing controls, improving the client experience and enabling better analytics.

The Operations Task Manager (OTM) product delivers solutions for over sixteen thousand employees to support the investigation and resolution of work. Core capabilities include exception management, enquiry management, instruction management and digital evidencing.

Role Description

The successful applicant will be part of a global team delivering key aspects of the product vision strategy. The applicant will focus on aligning business demands opportunities to the product strategy; understanding and detailing users needs business requirements; collaboration with many partners stakeholders across Operations, UX and Technology across the bank; managing product backlog prioritisation, and ensuring successful delivery leading to desired outcomes. The OTM Product Owner will be responsible for:

Ownership of the product from discovery through to delivery, providing product leadership to the broader team through setting priorities and vision for experimentation, planning execution
Engages with business stakeholders and end-users to define goals, requirements and priorities
Advocates user business needs to the broader team
Initiate research ensure a deep understanding of the user journey and current processes
Identify and address key risks assumptions proactively though experimentation testing
Creates requirements using agile methodologies (i.e EPICs, user stories etc.) highlighting the value delivered by each requirement and release
Use data to learn insights about the product identify improvement opportunities
Engagement with Operations Product Marketing to define rollout strategy and adoption plan
Effective communication of all changes ensuring that the relevant operations and technology stakeholders are engaged and that all issues and risks are identified and escalated
Manage stakeholder relationships and conduct regular PWGs for assigned projects
Formulation and documentation of risk-based testing plans in order to support testing teams, resolve UAT/Regression issues
Assist in the release management process when enhancements are made to the application, including helping to coordinate business testing of changes, preparing user training resources and user communications in partnership with client service
Facilitate and feed into discussions around future development of the application through business and technology stakeholders engagement


Required Skills and Qualifications

Prior experience of Product Management in a financial services, operational or technology environment
Inquisitive and motivated to solve business problems for users clients
Outcome focused creative approach to problem solving and strategic planning
Uses data to make decisions but is wary of endless analysis
Attention to technical detail, seek out potential problem area and follow-up with experts
Takes initiative and can work under pressure to meet deadlines
Confident to question business and technology requirements and solutions respectively
Excellent communicator and strong relationship building skills
Prior experience and understanding of CIB Operations business areas and trade lifecycle knowledge preferred
Prior experience or working knowledge of web and database technologies preferred
