Job purpose

The position of Program Coordinator (BMG)- Bal Mitra Gram is designed to work closely with Department of Women and Child Development (DoWCD) and support the department in strengthening the child protection mechanism at village level by replicating the Bal Mitra Gram (BMG) program of KSCF.

Job Description (Role Expectations)

Identifying the status of child protection in the State and identifying issues at state and district level.Supporting DoWCD in strengthening the child protection mechanism from village to district level in order to make village Bal Mitra or Child Friendly.Identifying the convergence points between various porogrammes of the DoWCD and KSCFs Bal Mitra Gram (BMG) program and replication of the same through government mechanism.Supporting the department in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the BMG program.Strengthen the monitoring of implementation of JJ Act, CLPRA, RTE, PCMA, BLSA and Trafficking related laws and the corresponding rules.Implementation and monitoring of ICPS, SOPS, and provisions of various child related laws.Coordinate with state department for real time monitoring of execution / implementation of various schemes benefitting children.Networking with law enforcement and child protection agencies, to collaborate on issues of prevention, protection, prosecution and rehabilitation of children.Identifying challenges within individual agencies, and in inter-agency coordination in rendering services, and assisting agencies to collaboratively arrive at short-term and long-term solutions.Taking cognizance of individual cases and extending legal support.Ensuring adherence to child friendly procedures at all levels during rescue, investigation and trial in cases of crime against children.Taking up initiatives for legal awareness, literacy and empowerment, especially women and children.Assist and coordinate in developing training modules and organising training programmes per year across the state on issues of child protection and identifyig the gaps.Providing assistance to government agencies in all matters concerning protection, prosecution and rehabilitation of child survivors.Ensuring coordination and convergence in activities regarding prevention, protection and rehabilitation by all child protection and law enforcement agencies, within the state and with other states.Building network with PoCs of other states for better coordination and best practice sharing.Taking up all activities for overall strengthening of Legal Services Authority, and enabling focus on child rights.To open communication channels on various segment of child protection related work with different departments and different stakeholders.To assist the state in developing or framing policies / rules for JJACt, Child labour and other child related laws including education.To extend technical assistance to govt department for developing innovative plans, policies, project.. etc time to time for implementation of child protection laws/policies.Processing documentation, data recording and maintenance, and reporting of input, activities, outputs, outcome, challenges, impact, and best practices and overall coordination with Central Office.Any other work given by the Supervisor.Requirements

Education, Experience and Exposure

Education

o Advance degree in relevant discipline from institute/university of repute preferably covering social work as a topic of study

Experience Exposure

o Minimum 10 years experience in child welfare, and/or Community development with at least 8 years in people management role

o Professional experience of managing programs at local/regional levels

o Demonstrated experience of writing reports, documentations of best practices, policy briefs etc.

o Experience of monitoring evaluation of large scale programmes and data analysis.

o Experience of working in the geographies of MP/Gujarat

o Managerial Experience of handling multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams

o Experience of working in government programmes strongly preferred.

o Professional experience of working in NGOs, CSOs, Foundations or business CSRs.

o Demonstrated ability to liaise, network and support advocacy efforts with government and alike stakeholders

o Excellent verbal and written English/Hindi and regional language.

Required skills: Proficient in MS office (MS word, excel and PPT), report writing, drafting emails, and good command over telephonic correspondences. Good command on English and Hindi.

Desirable skills: Acquaintance to local language.
