OVERVIEW We have an opening for a Software Testing Engineer to join our Claims IT Agile Development team! As a Software Test Engineer, you are responsible for several aspects of the Sentry Insurance testing solution development lifecycle. These aspects include but are not limited to analysis, design, coding and testing of software test solutions, as well as defining and executing test strategies to ensure Sentry Insurance's application quality. Software Test Engineers need to have a good understanding of insurance and how to apply appropriate solutions to meet the testing need.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Analyzes business processes and requests to provide estimates, develop, and deliver end-to-end test solutions per the project methodology to ensure the overall quality of the application under test. Organizes and prioritizes tasks to ensure personal and team commitments are met. Applies development and testing best practices to ensure the design of comprehensive testing solutions and application performance. Participates in peer and code reviews to ensure quality of work product. Develops application test strategies defining the appropriate scenarios, test coverage, and tools to ensure software quality. Codes, debugs, and executes comprehensive testing of defined test solutions. Using defined methodology collects metrics, performs analysis, and issues reports to Management and Peers. Identifies and documents data trends. Identifies, defines, sets and measures service-level agreements using industry standard performance monitoring applications. Collaborates with Engineering to understand the technical application design in order to ensure robust test approaches. Continuously provides feedback on quality of the user experience to Engineering. WHAT IT TAKES Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
2+ years of related work experience
Experience working with relational databases.
Experience working with API/service-oriented implementation. Experience working in an agile environment.
Experience working and configuring continuous integrations systems.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a fast paced, customer-oriented team.
Possesses an understanding of the insurance industry. Knowledge and understanding of SQA industry practices.
Strives to continuously improve processes and testing solutions.
Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of automated and/or performance testing industry best practices.
Understanding and experience with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Effectively operate and facilitate with cross-functional teams with minimal guidance.
Excellent Communication Skills.
Experience working with MS Product Suite.
