You will partner closely with Data Stewards, Data Custodians, Enterprise Data Management, Controllership, Risk, Treasury, Technologies and other teams to drive scalable data governance and data quality within Finance.As a Finance Data Management Analyst, you'll be responsible for supporting actively the definition and implementation of accounting, reporting and balancing & control requirements requirements for Finance's Financial Data Management program. The position requires representing AXP Finance in business facing investment initiatives such as Enterprise wide platform modernization, revenue enhancements, new product launch, controls and compliance etc..Additionally, as part of the Finance Data Management Center of Excellence (FDM COE) organization within Corporate Controllership, this role is responsible for providing financial integrity of accounting, reporting, and control changes in technology development for the Finance Data Management development and deployment across the enterprise. This position will assist the Project Lead to provide analysis and inputs for project initiatives, defining financial needs and developing user stories. The role will also assist on developing, reviewing test cases, and providing post warranty coverage for deployed financial requirements with technology development driven by the Line of Business or Finance organization.The Finance Data Management Analyst responsibilities primarily include:* Assist the organization ensuring compliance with System Control & Reporting and all other relevant AXP and Finance Policies* Support Project Lead in new initiatives requiring technology development with financial, reporting, or accounting impacts* Assist Project Lead to define end-to-end balancing and controls within financial processes* Work with Project Lead to create accounting requirements in consultation with Segment and Market Controllership* Assist on design changes/updates to reporting* Assist Project Lead on user acceptance testing of finance requirements* Assist the team in post implementation support* Assist on creating project documentation including process, system and accounting flows*Qualifications*Minimum*.*Qualifications* Three to five years' post graduate experience in a finance or technology related role* Preferably has some exposure in defining system development requirements across business and technologies* Preferably has some exposure in defining and validating system development and financial test cases* Knowledge of large-scale multi-feed ERP processes and systems is a plus* Basic understanding of US GAAP requirements and financial control principles and practices* Basic understanding of project management and system implementation background is preferred* Possesses strategic thinking and results driven traits* Recognizes the importance of teamwork to achieve objectives; brings in ideas, information, suggestions and expertise from others outside the immediate team* A desire to work in an environment of significant change with the ability to collaborate and influence without authority* Exemplifies a growth mindset where continual knowledge and learning are expected, challenges are embraced and setbacks are opportunities to learn - forward looking and thinking* Written and verbal communications with ability to communicate highly complex concepts and processes in simple terms and pragmatically* Must be a self-starter, motivated with the ability to work in dynamic environment, able to adapt to unforeseen obstacles* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio) is a requirement to aid on written and visual communication as well as analytics* Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or has equivalent work experience* Training/certification in any of the following areas is preferred: Agile Methodology, Project (Lifecycle) Management, Planning & Scheduling, Workshop Facilitation and Testing Management*American Express is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, age, or any other status protected by law.*Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.*Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.*Job:* Finance*Primary Location:* US-New York-New York*Other Locations:* US-Arizona-Phoenix*Schedule* Full-time*Req ID:* 21023263
