Experienced Field Technicians needed in the Central Columbus area for a utility engineering, construction and network installation provider. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working outside in all weather conditions and has a previous background in a construction or utility focused position. Quickly learn technology tools such as IkeGPS, Laser range finders, digital cameras, and Topcon receiver. -Accurately record measurements of requested items; be able to recognize levels of detail required to create a complete and accurate accounting of the pole data. Accurately and neatly gather field data using paper drawings, Google earth maps, Ike GPS, digital cameras, Hastings stick and paper pole forms when needed. Correctly identify items to be documented in the field with minimal assistance. Be able to work independently- Manage your assignments in an efficient manner. Be Team-Oriented- Be Professional, Positive, Open and clear with communication, Share communication, Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable and Pro-Active. Be Customer Oriented- Keep customer requests and standards in mind when working projects Be field-ready at any given moment- Have field clothing available at all times (Jeans, Boots, weather gear) Be able to accurately field 5-10 poles per hour- All photos must be clear, all span distances must be accurately measured, all equipment must be accurately identified. All photos must be in order. Be able to upload all collected data accurately- Number all photos according to pole sequence number, upload data to correct project folder, notify the respective project manager(s) of completion.
This position requires visual identification, physically measuring, and inspecting electrical attachments, equipment, and non-electric lines attached to utility poles. Technicians will utilize equipment to audit and compile data on joint use components attached to poles. This position requires travel to and overnight stay in the area of the job site during the work week. The job requires mostly outdoor activity and the ability to walk from pole to pole carrying all required equipment which may include a computer, Laser rangefinder, digital camera, and range pole. Data Technicians will take all data from the field and input it into engineering computer systems, then process the information as needed.
High School Diploma and valid driver's license. Ability to work in rough terrain and inclement weather. Requires knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software. Candidate must possess the aptitude to read maps, plan routes, and be able to work independently. Utility right of way knowledge, knowledge of telecommunications systems and electric utility experience is preferred.
