This year one got to see a lot of action in the top segment of the smart phones. All the major brands have come up with a certain special offering in their flagships. The top segment just got a lot more glitzy and competitive. People are simply expecting a lot from the smart phones and devices. They believe that each and every device will make their lives more comfortable.

So the top brands are always on their toes and deliver exactly what the customers are looking for. Blackberry is one of the leading brands in the smart phone market. They were synonymous with the business phones during a time in the market. But Samsung rewrote the rules of the markets in a disappointing way for BlackBerry.

A few months back the Z10 from blackberry hit the markets and also introduced the new OS to the world. But Samsung introduced its new S4 recently and the phone is really doing well. So here is a direct comparison between the two to help one take a decision.

  • Design

The s4 draws in the lines of the S3 in the design department while the Z10 from blackberry is squarer in form. The Z10 is completely black while the plastic and pebble design of Samsung S4 comes in a few color options. But the Z10 has scored less in this department as it does not give the feel of a sleek high segment device. It feels a bit too plastic in the palm.

  • Screen

The galaxy s4 comes with a whooping 5 inch screen. The full HD display has 441 pixels per inch guaranteeing one of the best screen qualities if not the best. The super AMOLED display of the S4 consumes lesser power and is protected by gorilla glass 3. On the contrary, the z10 has a 4.2 inch screen which looks diminutive in front of the S4. The colors are quite vibrant and the text is crisp clear but the size makes a difference. The lack of an oleo phobic coating makes the screen quite dirty and fingerprint friendly. The screen of the Blackberry Z10 is amazing but the s4 simply is better in this department.

  • Processor

Samsung s4 runs on a quad core 1.9 GHz QUALCOMM processor which makes it quite fast and responsive. It is toe to toe to most of the top segment entry if not enjoying an upper hand. The Z10 gas a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and a 2GB RAM but the new BB 10 OS is quite zippy. The phone does not lag speed or execution though it has a slightly less powerful processor. Again here, the Samsung Galaxy S4 SIM Free leads the bout.

  • Storage

This is where the Z10 takes a lethal blow from the galaxy s4. The z10 comes with just a 16 GB internal memory and the new OS takes up 4 GB of the internal memory. Though the micro SD slot take up to 64 GB cards, it is not ideal. The Samsung s4 comes with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models which simply make them a better choice. To add to this the SD card slot supports up to 64 GB which just makes the s4 great at data storage.
