Introduction to mental ray in Maya
Pluralsight
Course Summary
mental ray isn't just another rendering option that comes included with every Maya installation. In fact, it is a powerful rendering solution that can create highly realistic renders due to the fact that, on many levels, it operates the same way things do in the real world. Software required: Maya 2015.

Course Description
mental ray isn't just another rendering option that comes included with every Maya installation. In fact, it is a powerful rendering solution that can create highly realistic renders due to the fact that on many levels, it operates the same way things do in the real world. This training will set you on the right path to unlocking the power of mental ray. We'll get started by diving in and learning about the mental ray materials and why they're important when rendering in mental ray. From here, we'll move on and learn about a number of different important topics including reflections and refractions, indirect illumination, subsurface scattering, image-based lighting, and render passes, just to name a few. This training will also introduce the idea of a linear workflow and why it's so important to rendering inside of mental ray. After completing this training, you will have a solid foundation to build on for getting amazing results when rendering using mental ray. Software required: Maya 2015.
