Resume Development for Technical Professionals

This course covers how to write a professional resume. The course is designed to meet the needs of anyone in a technical career (Software, Design, IT, Data, Project Management, and more). It provides an overview of do's and don'ts from the perspective of a technical hiring veteran. We explore rules, format types, how your resume is used (by you and the reader), as well as an adaptation of a Resume Writing Workshop to help you build a resume from scratch or improve an existing one. This course is intended to be helpful for individuals who are either beginning their career, moving from another field into technology, or simply updating and compiling a current version of their resume. For beginners, details regarding development of a technical resume from scratch will be covered; for seasoned professionals, the focus will be a review and refinement of an existing resume or CV to meet each individual's current and unique needs, and an exploration of how your resume is viewed by the reader. We will also explore how resumes are used in the technical industry today, best practices, and why you need bother.
