Why Text Messaging will Endure the Test of Time - Image 1
For telecommunication companies, innovation is the key to staying on top, well above the reach of fellow competitors in the industry. Innovation is also responsible for the creation and improvement of communication tools and technology. That is why we can now enjoy the benefits of using a single gadget to communicate with people around the world. Before, telephone lines were the norm. Today, there are hardly people who do not own or use mobile devices, such as the cellular phones, smartphones, laptops, tablets, and the like. All of these devices are equipped with the technology that will allow the user to use text messaging services.

As mentioned before, innovation encourages companies to create more products that will allow their subscribers to communicate with loved ones at a more affordable cost. More recently, mobile applications, like Viber, are developed to let users call and text one another over the Internet. However, with all of these new services being introduced to consumers every week, there can be no doubt that text messaging will never go out of style. Why not? Text messaging can boast of several advantages that call services and instant messaging applications do not have.

One of these benefits is convenience. It is not very difficult to create and send SMS messages. Sending a text message is not as pricey as calling, nor is it as obtrusive. Before calling, you can text a friend to know if it is a good time to call. That way, you will not disturb anybody who is with him at the moment. Imagine the trouble that your friend may get into when you decide to call him when he is in a meeting or in the cinema. SMS messaging is quite discreet, allowing one to send secret messages. Text messages keep conversations short and concise. Its editing features make sure that you are not wasting time and money on sentences that are not that important.

Getting prepaid credits is not difficult. There are reloading stations everywhere, from the streets to the local malls. You can also reload your mobile phones online, thanks to sites like TopUp PH in the Philippines. Some say that getting your load online is cheaper, too.

What’s great about the text messaging features on our phones is that they allow you to send and receive messages at any time and from anywhere. Unlike instant messaging services and emails, you don’t have to be connected to the Internet to send and receive messages. You also don’t have to keep any applications running to receive any messages. Some mobile gadgets don’t even require you to keep your device on, thanks to SIM cards and store-and-forward services.

Unlike your regular calls, text messages allow you to send the same message to multiple people at once. Group messages are often created to spread news and give announcements. It does not affect the speed and efficiency of networks, and so SMS messaging has quickly become a means to get information for surveys and polls. For example, several reality shows ask the audiences to vote for their favorite contestants by texting.

Text messaging also allows users to subscribe to special information services. By sending a single message, a person will get details on the weather, the stock market, current news, etc. Nowadays, you can update your Facebook and Twitter statuses via SMS.

Let’s not forget that text messages allow differently-abled people to make the most of their electronic gadgets. The deaf and the mute are able to communicate with others without difficulty through SMS.

Text messaging became popular during the 90’s. Since its introduction, it has become a well-loved form of communication for billions of mobile users, as it is cheaper and more convenient than calling. Today, we still use text messaging services to communicate with our loved ones. Network providers even provide text promos to keep subscribers texting without spending a lot of money. Prepaid credits can be bought anywhere, even from online shops like TopUp PH. Considering its popularity today, as well as the benefits it offers, who’s to say that we won’t keep using text messaging services in the far future?
