By many smartphones are considered great while their inconvenient keyboards keep spoiling everything with typos. Even though the touchscreen keyboard underwent a series of improvement, they still require much concentration to press the right key. Even Bluetooth keyboards or voice input do not make the situation any better. Released last Wednesday, Google Handwriting Input works fine for all Android devices. The authors of Google Handwriting Input believe that handwriting is the smartest option. However, it was not until recently that the app started to support 82 languages (20 existing scripts). In fact, it was a significant challenge for the creators to make the app function in different languages. Here are the main functions of Google Handwriting App:

  • works as an addition to voice and touchscreen input

  • the possibility to draw smileys
  • you can enter symbols that are not present on an actual keyboard

  • works on all Android devices from Android 4.0.3

  • ability to use handwriting input without the Internet connection

Google Handwriting Input works for both cursive and printed scripts as well as for different kinds of emoji. All you need to do is to use Enter button to switch the modes.

The application is ideal for challenging ideographic and script languages as well as the languages that have many possible dialects. The app works perfectly not only for complex languages, but also for commonly used ones such as English and Spanish. The users of these claim that handwriting is faster and more comfortable.

While many products designed to solve the problem of typos on touchscreen keyboards, none of them made the users to abandon the common typing. Even Amazon offers alternative ways to typing including physical keyboards for smartphones and applications like Swype where all you need to do is to draw lines. Nevertheless, nothing comes close to the traditional handwriting. Even if you work with abstract smileys, the app ensures precise recognizing.

As suggested at dissertationadvice.co.uk only downside of the Google Handwriting Input is that it sometimes has hitches with recognizing capital letters and spaces between words. But, after all, no matter how horrible your handwriting is, the app is capable of transcribing it into meaningful words. Although this is not the first handwriting tool on the app market since MyScript, it is deemed to be the most precise one. That is because it was designed based on many years of research at Google corporation.
