Android Vs. i-Phone - Who is Winning The War - Image 1
Whenever a new android or i-Phone is announced a debate mounts between the android and i-Phone users that which is better and who is going to win the war in the end. Every new smartphone which runs on android or i-Phone promises various innovative features and claims to be a game changer in the mobile market.

In terms of numbers android is far ahead than i-Phone users but in previous years we saw a large migration of android users to i-Phone devices. Apple's CEO Tim Cook said that approximately 30% of new i-Phone users were switching from the android platform and this trend is going to accelerate.

Let's go through various common features of both platforms to calculate which is better than other-

1. Opening the lock
To open a lock, both devices have a different kind of lock pattern. i-Phone has numerical pattern whereas android has touch-pattern.Some android phones have the smart-lock option too where a lock could be open by face recognition feature but it is less secure. The touch display of i-Phone is far better than android's so i-Phone is a winner in this category.

2. Calling
The frequent contact which you call could be arranged as the favorites in i-Phone and in speed dial in android. But the FaceTime feature of i-Phone has a very subtle impression and that gives it an upper hand over android.

3. Time
To see the time on both devices, a user has to click the lock button. But different android phones like Motorola, HTC, and Samsung show the time when you bring the phone out of the pocket or some phones shows the time constantly when you put your phone for charging. Such features are not available in i-Phone, so here android is a winner.

4. Photos/Videos
Camera quality of an android mobile could be average, good, great and excellent. Different vendors provide different megapixel camera and picture quality varies with the same amount. Though i-Phone's camera quality is consistently great but the photo management is not fully possible in it. Google's android provides different cloud services to host the photos in it. Here android beats the i-Phone.

5. Typing
Android's keyboard provides better writing option than i-Phone. It has pronunciation present along the alphabets to use them simultaneously where the user will not have to click on symbols option to use the punctuation marks. Though Apple to have incorporated displaying small case letters and it's typing keyboard when the user is not using capital letters. But in terms of functionality android's keyboard is better.

6. App store
There is no challenge in front of the android operating system in terms of app availability and arrangement. There are approximately 3 million apps(both paid and free) are available on Google's Play store whereas Apple's app store has approximately 2.2 millions apps available in it. Organization of apps and letting important and frequently used app to the home screen is one such feature which takes android far ahead than i-Phone. If a mobile app development company wants to develop a mobile app then android is its first choice because of its vast user base.

7. App notification
Both operating systems provide app notifications without the need of opening the app. i-Phone allows users to send a reply to the notifications but android gives the user the facility to prioritize the notifications as per his like or need.

8. Emails
Default email setting of android is Gmail, irrespective of any email service you use. It lets you browse folder and move to a different account with just a swipe to the right. Apple's mail setting is quite simple but takes more time in navigating accounts.

9. Direction assistance
Google's google map is the best direction assistance mobile app ever. every i-phone does have it but it is not voice supported by Siri. Apple is also trying to come up with its native navigation app, but it is not like google maps.

10. Phone contacts
Android's phone contacts always show the image of the person along with the name, so a caller can identify that to whom he is calling. In i-Phone, there is only a name list. Here android proves more useful than i-Phone.

11. Vibration
To enable the vibration on your phone, there is an external button given on i-Phone. Whereas in android mobile, you will have to open the locked press the volume button and then click on vibration option to enable it.

12. Searching
The search option is far better in i-Phone than android. In i-Phone, any searches bring more results lie emails, podcasts, texts, events etc. Though Siri still offers some limited options. Android search is same as google search which can bring any information in the least time.

13. Voice assistance
Apple's voice assistance Siri understands various accents and has a personality of its own. Google's voice search is not much sophisticated but work offline too.

Out of thirteen common features of both the platforms android is leading in eight and i-Phone in five. So we could say the android is the better mobile operating system among two. But it would be quite an exaggeration to not taking i-Phone seriously. There could be different features in which i-Phone could easily beat any android mobile. So we could say that the battle in going on and we are going to see much advancements from both sides.
