Tips To Preparing A Job Application

Looking to start another job? Here's some basic hints and tips to help you stand out and know what your're looking for when applying for a job.

Before applying, ask yourself a few simple questions:

What work experience do I have?

What level of education do I have?

Will you be happy in your new job?

Switching Between Jobs

People are shifting between jobs more often than before, with some looking to switch jobs every 3-6 months. The biggest reasons for changing jobs is the employee looking for something new, something that pays more, or a different work environment. Employers will view your resume and sometimes quetion the length of time you've held your current job, and if you've switched between jobs more than twice per year, be prepared to have some good answers. My advice is that when you land a job, stay in your job for at least 1 year before looking for employment elsewhere. This will give you an opportunity to grow into the role and the company, while also taking the necessary experience and knowledge for your next job.

Know The Industry

When looking for work, search for a job that you're familiar with. Choose a business sector or industry that you've previously developed some experience in. With university degrees and tertiary education becoming even more common these days, experience is becoming even more essential when looking for a job. It's a competitive market, so every bit of extra education and experience helps.

Stand Out & Make An Impression

Stand out with your job application. Don't have a boring resume that simply notes your basic skills and experience. Be proactive and enthusiastic by showing that you're the best candidate for the job. If the job requires you to understand how to process payroll, then make sure you include that in your resume. Tailor your resume so it shows that you're an expert at your job so you can offer the same skills and expertise into your next job. There's a lot of sites out there which offer advice on how to tailor your cover letter and resume. They won't tell you what to include, but rather guide you on what sort of words or descriptions you should use which is more than enough for most people.

Review Your Resume & Job Application

Ensure you don't have any spelling or grammatical errors in your application. The moment you make an error is the same moment that doubt will start arising as to whether you are the right candidate for the job. Most people will have a resume which is free from spelling or grammatical errors so the last thing you want to do is slip up by spelling a few words wrong, especially in the opening lines of your application.

So the next time you're looking for a job, take into account the job your applying for, if it's right for you, if you have the experience and stand out. Show the employer that you're undoubtedly the So the next time you're looking for a job, take into account the job your applying for, if it's right for you, if you have the experience and stand out.
