PHP and Drupal developers are just two of a variety of sought after skills as demand heats up this year, according to a new report.
The Hays Specialist Recruitment report, which covers January to June 2018, pointed out that PHP demand will grow as more organisations use the language. Large corporations will also seek out Drupal developers.
"Already the limited number of people with Drupal skills has seen suitable candidates command a considerable salary increase before moving from their current role," the report said.
Other IT skills that are expected to be in high demand up to June 2018 include native iOS and Android developers, Microsoft SQL BI developers, devOps, network engineers and architects with software defined network (SDN) and network functions virtualisation expertise and security experts from analysts to architects.
Some of the top trends in recruitment will be fuelled by data science and digital technology, as well as using virtual reality to enhance a jobseeker’s profile resulting in up-skilling benefits.
These changes present opportunities for adaptable and innovative employers and jobseekers to stand out and secure top talent or their next job, Deligiannis added.
"There is a particular shortage of developers who have built applications with these technologies in a commercial environment, particularly Node.JS, Angular.JS & React.JS," stated the report.
Azure/AWS developers along with UI/UX developers and designers will continue to be in demand as employers look to improve the customer experience.
The finance, insurance, utilities and retail industries are all competing for top talent cyber security and devOps specialists, according to Hays.
