The early version of Android N Developer Preview was a sweet surprise. Since the release of the Preview of N Developer in March 2016 for Android N, there has been much buzz among Android developers since development in Android has received a new diagonal, making it even more exciting. To add to the excitement, yet news is that N Developer Preview now has support being offered by the new version of Android Studio 2.1 release. What is N Developer Preview?

N Developer Preview is a test version of the new Android Software, primarily intended for developers. As it occurred with the Android M – Developer Preview version, the first version of N Developer Preview does not contain all the new features of the next version of Android but only parts.


With this release, it will enable Android developers to build, test and validate apps with Android 2 support. Soon device makers will have got a chance to explore the latest version of Android.

Instant Run & Performance Improvements

The N Developer Preview offer Instant Run and General Build Speed which comes with two new features: Java Compilation & In-Process Index.

Android Studio 2.1 is enabled by default version to reduce compilation time by compiling what is needed. The network said they will also be speeding up build times where converting class files to dex files within in Gradle daemon process will be possible. Thus, developers can have a cost effective processing operation of creating separate dex processes. This feature will help fasten the incremental and full builds while development with N Developer Preview.
