We live in an age where our lives are deeply connected with mobile applications. Mobile technology has evolved from being an everyday task simplifier, to a major business utility. Many entrepreneurs have given thought to the idea of developing Mobile Apps as minimum viable products (MVPs) for their Startups.

A startup is an institution, not just a product, and so it requires a new kind of management specifically geared to its context of extreme uncertainty.

According to the research of Gartner and Forrester, the market of mobile business applications will soon experience an explosion, because there is huge untapped potential and most of mobile development companies need to take quick advantage of a gold rush.

Considering all of the questions that will arise to the entrepreneurs, the most important question to ask, is whether a mobile app should be developed using iOS or Android. The answer, is Both. Hybrid mobile development saves time and reduces cost when compared to native applications - and that speaks to the core idea behind developing an MVP for your startup.

Here we will discuss the benefits of business and enterprise applications and how they provide opportunities to startups.

What Is a Hybrid Mobile Application?

Unlike native applications that are built exclusively for operation on mobile platforms like Android or iOS, hybrid applications are designed to run on multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows. These applications are built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They are rather a series of web pages that belong to a website built to work on small screens.

Converting the webpage to app screens without the need to create a new page for an app, can itself become a compelling reason to believe that these Apps save money and time. Let us take a closer look at why hybrid mobile applications have gained popularity among business owners and Hybrid developers.

Hybrid Application Development for Multiple Mobile Platforms

The main advantage of these applications is that they are built to be compatible with various mobile platforms, unlike Native Apps which require development specifically for a certain platform eg. iOS or Android. However, any owner who wants to build an application dreams about a native one as it operates on a particular mobile platform much better than hybrid applications. Hybrid applications can not guarantee the same user experience as it is offered for Native Apps.

If it is a hybrid mobile app development with many exceptional multimedia or rich graphics, no one will be able to find out that it is Hybrid App, as it is not visible on the platform on which they are running. Thus, hybrid app can run on any platform with a rich look and a stunning user experience for application mobile platforms, but the quality of the hybrid application itself will be way worse. These applications cost less, are done faster, with less efforts applied and that is the main reason why startups choose hybrid mobile app development for their M.V.P.s. Thought leaders consider M.V.P. development to be the best solution for startups as the latter can’t afford expensive product development before they measure the potential of their idea.

As you consider building your own minimum viable product, let this simple rule suffice: remove any feature, process, or effort that does not contribute directly to the learning you seek.

― Eric Ries, The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses

In the case of hybrid application to convert an existing website into a mobile application, the programmer does not have to learn new technologies. With the current knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, a web developer can build a mobile application for any startup business. If the developers are learning new skills for the development of native applications, the development process can take a lot of time.

Mobile Applications in the Business World

Mobile applications are aimed at the corporate market mainly because business applications have the potential to generate huge revenues. Mobile application development trend has completely changed the game for both development firms and startups. Nowadays mobile application development is the best way to open new revenue channels for businesses or to test a startup idea, prototype and MVP for startups.

Nice review of the hybrid apps but at the same time a lot of doubts appear: is a hybrid app really the best choice for Startups? I want to add a very important point - hybrid app suffers from the low performance, so do not be surprised when the customers will complain about the quality, and about the fact that the various bugs affect the work. I propose you to read this useful article which considers all the pros and cons of the hybrid apps comparing to the native apps. not always the money-saving choice is beneficial for a business. http://computoolsglobal.com/blog/native-app-vs-hybrid-app/

Yes hybrid apps could solve majority of the app requirements from various business. Start ups should spend time evaluating the maintenance cost and feasibility of hiring native developers before taking the decision on mobile apps.
