Some Concerns For Mobile App Development

Gone are the days you could get away without a mobile. Smart phones are also the only way to stay in the know when you want to perform your daily tasks, work assignments and check up on your social life. Top mobile app developers know to keep ahead of the curve and think for the end user. Some fields they deal with are still expanding. Here are some arenas that pose challenges.

Security

Security has been a risk with connectivity for a long time. The advent of mobile wallets, BYOD, bring your own device, in some new workplaces and the hoped for IOT, internet of things, all contribute to risk. Some malware as it's called can track the user's activity, take private data including pictures from mobile devices and with mobile wallets, steal account information. Hopefully a new trend in password protection for personal devices will begin. Many users of smart mobiles don't password protect. In the case of a lost or stolen mobile, with all that we keep on there, the threat is serious. Remote disabling of the phone could and should become the norm for consumer level use. There are other ideas that will need to take hold as the population becomes accustomed to using the mobile for running our daily lives.

Businesses should take security as a primary focus when including BYOD or app development in the workspace. In order to ensure that employees stay compliant, all employees could be required to have the same security on devices they'll use for work, that are personal in nature. An entire field of mobile app development security management might need to blossom.

Cloud Computing

Cloud use has a number of benefits including power capability, extremely large storage solutions and reliability. Cloud based applications are now the norm in some fields and for personal use, like Dropbox. More are inevitable and app developers can use this feature to their advantage. It goes hand in hand with the potential for IoT, linking everyone together, without having a server in your own home.

IoT and New Modern Tech

We can't say enough about the potential that looms with IoT, the internet of things. It does lend itself to a big security issue and app developers will need to work on better security keys and overall device security management. But these will come with the new apps needed to run homes and businesses all from a mobile device.

New hoped-for modern tech lifestyle includes wearables. These too will need cloud based access or management by a central device – obviously, the mobile. Fitness tracking apps are plentiful in number but there will be more coming in the health arena and likely for other uses such as social tracking.

Instant Apps

Android users can access some business apps that allow them the look and feel of an app without having to download. Downloading apps can inhibit end users due to space or malware concerns. There's also the time issue where an end user could lose interest in the hoped for advertising pull. Instant apps are accessed through the web and allow interaction without downloading.

Mobile app development is growing continually. It's hard to select specific items that app developers should focus on. Overall it's a whole arena of interest, such as security or potential VR and AR for example, that will develop its own niche of experts.
