Color management through Android apps

Published on 25 July 14

Most of the times arrangements and color combinations look good and appealing as long as it is in our imagination. Even the simplest activity such as choosing upholstery for your home may result in not so satisfying experience. We start out with a bias and believe that we can’t go wrong in our selection and that our tastes are superior! However, once we have selected it and when we try installing it at home we find that not all is right with the scheme of things. Sometimes it seems to be a disaster though not all of us may agree to this fact.

Get your color right

The basic method of choosing upholstery for the furniture is to start with the color and once this is decided you have done half the job. In case you are planning to paint your walls then the use of apps to choose the right colors is an ideal decision that will bring down your budget and give you the right output. Instead of carrying paint samples and messing with them it is far better to use the android app that helps you choose the right color. The one drawback if we can call it that is the variation in screen displays that result in minute change in colors and it is recommended you double check colors with a printed sample.

Some of the android apps that can be employed to determine the right color combination so that you don’t make the costly mistake of buying expensive upholstery that does not suit your home one bit, are as follows:

1. Color Capture

This is an easy to use Android app that is also suitable for the iOS and you may select your favorite colors easily and also add notes. You can use the million odd colors and create patterns using apps to get to the nearest dream upholstery that you were planning for a long time.

2. Color Smart

This Android app may be used for your interior and to decide on any color pattern that you want recreated. All you got to do is to upload a frame and the app will help you create a color scheme based on the image. You can also apply colors to upholstery you intend to purchase so that the new colors match the rest of the interiors.

3. Houzz Interior Design Ideas

Houzz is one app that is a collection of rooms, locations and products and the app has a directory of professional designers, architects and contractors. You can use this app and save photos to access them offline later.

4. MyPantone: You may browse for more than 13,000 Pantone colors with this app which is compatible with AirPrint that helps you print out a color palette.

5. ColoRotate: This android app can be use to explore and select color combinations by generating color palettes in real time 3D, in much the same way as we perceive color. An absolutely free online app, it can also connect to Adobe Photoshop CS5 or CS6. It can also update foreground and background colors and send palettes to your desktop.

Since color is the most challenging aspect of design, the best way to master it would be to make use of a tool like the many android apps available to us.
