(a) The first step is to install the Alexa toolbar and set your site/blog as your homepage.
(b) You may put up an Alexa rank widget on your website. Even if the toolbar is not used by the visitors, each click on the widget will be considered as a visit.
(c) If you work in an office or own a company, install the Alexa toolbar on all the computers and set your website as the homepage. However, it will work only if dynamic IPs are used. Also, make sure that this does not upset your boss enough to fire you. If he or she does, you can always start making money online while working from home.
(d) Encourage your friends, associates, fellow webmasters, blog readers and website visitors to use the Alexa toolbar.
(e) Become active in webmaster forums like Digital Point. If necessary, hire forum posters or buy forum signatures in different reputed webmaster forums. This will drive targeted traffic to your website as these webmasters are more likely to have the Alexa toolbar already installed.
(f) Buy banner ads or links for driving traffic from webmaster related forums and websites.
(g) If you have a blog, create an Alexa category to include articles or news about Alexa. This will inform your readers about the advantages of Alexa.
(h) Use Pay Per Click or PPC advertisements to help bring in traffic to your site. It will be more useful if your ads are relevant to webmasters or making money online.
(i) Write content about subjects like SEO and domaining. Webmasters in these categories are likely to install the toolbar.
(j) If your content gets Dug or stumbled, your site will get a massive amount of traffic which will increase it’s Alexa rank.
(k) Create a Webmaster Tools section on your website. It will attract webmasters and they will keep on visiting your site often to get access to these tools.
(l) For brand new sites, use Alexa auto-surfs. But do not use these surfs if you have AdSense on your site. Keep in mind that it is not a long term solution for increasing your Alexa rank.
