Important details about the project Neon, which is the rumored new design language for the Windows 10 Redstone 3 update were leaked in January and now Microsoft has confirmed these changes in a slide during a presentation at its Windows Developer Day. As per the company, the main motive behind the new design is to make beautiful as well as highly engaging experiences on the Windows platform and these changes are known as a part of the vision for Windows Redstone wave. In other words, the new design language hopes to paves the way for easy development of attractive apps.

The leaked information pointed to several animations as well as some beautiful transparency effects reminiscent of Aera Glass, which is the Microsoft’s earlier design language for Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Huge emphasis on visually blurring elements within apps. It is believed that with fluid transparencies, animations and blur for streamlining the content, Microsoft is aiming to advance Windows 10 into a highly seamless as well as engaging experience for users. Small snippets of the Project NEON design in some official apps of Microsoft such as Paint 3D and Groove Music.

However, Microsoft doesn’t actually showcase project Neon in the slide, but it did show its Groove Music app in the exact design as the images showed by MSPoweruser in January. On the other hand, Microsoft says that Neon may gain some inspiration from HoloLens apps as well as 3D interactions through new highlights that change solid squares on selected objects. There is no exaggeration in saying that the leaked information shows a lot more useful information in comparison to the slide. Neon is not expected to be a major makeover, but this change has attracted many Window’s fans drooling for a new look and feel.

The design refresh should extend to all Windows 10 devices, which tablets, Pcs, Xbox, HoloLens and lastly, few surviving Windows Phones. Microsoft is expected to share much more important information about Neon at the time of Build conference in May. In other words, the company is expected to fully detail its project Neon plans at this conference. Build will also act as a venue for Microsoft to discuss the next Windows 10 update, which is expected to ship later in 2017.
