I am trying to learn data science and machine learning. So that after getting a job in it and gaining experience in it for one or two years. I want to do something of my own. And for doing a startup I want to learn the skill which can lead me to data driven decisions.
But as I am reading about augmented analytics and citizen analytics , I am afraid that jobs of data analytics would not be needed in future.
Should I step in this career ?
Hi ,
I am trying to learn data science and machine learning.
If data science and machine learning are skills that you'd like to build a career around, then you should pursue them. They are widely used for all kinds of applications, and even though there is an emergence of augmented analytics, that doesn't mean that this type of analytics will make human experts redundant. Augmented analytics will help with some scenarios, but not all. The term citizen data scientist should also not worry you at all, in my opinion.
Apart from this, if you learn machine learning, the areas in which it can be applied are limited only by human creativity, the availability of data and the skills required to practice it. And besides, you have to remember that human expertise is required even to build augmented analytics systems!
So, I wouldn't be apprehensive about jobs drying up. What is predicted for the foreseeable future is the exact opposite, ie, people with skills in data science and machine learning will be very much in demand.
